RETURN TO SENDER – 1945
An unsealed envelope containing printed matter sent at the printed matter rate for Period 1 (10f) locally in Budapest on June 15, 1945. The slip of paper pasted under the address indicates that the recipient had left that address without leaving forwarding information and is dated VI/14 and as a result, an “Elköltözött. Parti.” sticker was affixed. The search for a new address was unsuccessful and vissza was scrawled across the cover with an arrow back to the sender’s address.
A local letter sent at the local letter rate for Period 2 (2P) in Budapest on July 3, 1945. The slip of paper pasted over the address indicates that the recipient was not known at that address and is dated VII/7 and as a result, an “Ismeretlen. Inconnu.” sticker was affixed. The search for a new address for the recipient was unsuccessful and arrows were drawn back to the sender’s address to indicate it should be returned.
